4th of July Dessert Recipe – How to Make a Flag Cake

Celebrating the 4th of July is such a wonderful celebration to spend time with your family and friends. As such, providing some tasty treats to you love ones is a must. Being a national holiday, having a flag cake being served to everyone is such a good idea.

To make a flag cake, you will need to have a sheet cake, 1½ pints of blueberries and strawberries and 6 cups of frosting. Bake your cake with your favorite cake recipe or cake mix. While your cake is baking, sliced your strawberries and as your cake is done and cold, transfer it to your serving plate and place some wax paper at the edges of the plate to keep your plate clean from frosting. Have the edges be trim with serrated knife.p

With the use of your spatula, frost the cake with vanilla or cream cheese frosting. You can also use real whip cream or real whipped topping. Save some frosting in a large pastry bag for later use. Then outline the pattern of the American flag into the cake with the use of a toothpick. Fill in the upper left hand corner of the star section with layer of blueberries. Then to form the red stripes, layer down your strawberries or raspberries across the cake. Then, pipe in some white stars below the berries to form the white stripes. Do the following steps until you reach seven reds and six white stripes. Have it served or refrigerated for later use.
